Hello! I am Jake Helmen. I am a creative individual based out of Chicago with a passion for filmmaking and sound. I graduated from Ball State University with a degree in telecommunications and audio production.  I try to involve myself in anything I can and love sharing my work. I've worked on many award-winning short film productions, usually specializing in sound mixing, sound editing, and sound design.  My involvement in the short film Devil's Advocate won Best Sound Design and Best of Festival at the Frog Baby Film Festival. Other projects I've worked on have gone on to be nominated and win Regional Emmy's. I absolutely love film sound and am dedicated on working my hardest to make any film sound the best it can be.

I love editing and shooting video as well. Recently, I was the Video Editor at the Ball State Daily News.  I filmed and edited multiple videos every week as well as taught and oversaw a team of younger students. I also have filmed weddings and recitals for freelance. Because of this, I am quite proficient in Premiere Pro and After Effects. I also have some experience editing podcasts for the site. It's been quite a journey. And I'd like you to follow along here.
